Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is established and disclosed by Dongsung Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Company”) in order to protect the personal information of a data subject and to handle related complaints or grievances promptly and smoothly under the provisions of the Personal Information Protection Act, Article 30.

Article 1. General Provisions

1. The Company has made all efforts to protect customers’ personal information by strictly complying with all domestic laws and regulations, including the Personal Information Protection Act, and a Privacy Policy has been separately established.
2. In accordance with this Privacy Policy, the Company will inform you in a transparent manner on what personal data is collected by the Company, how the collected data will be used, and what actions the Company is taking to protect to personal data.
3. The Company enables you to easily access the Privacy Policy which is posted on the first page of our website.
4. The Company provides procedures for you to select “Accept” or “Not Accept” to indicate whether you consent to the collection and use of personal information or the Terms of Service and collects information only on condition that you select “Accept.”

Article 2. Personal Information Collected

The following personal information is collected by the Company for lease contracts, handling various grievances/complaints, hiring, and employment retention/termination.
1. Lease contract: Customer’s name, Company’s name, email, contact information, address, contractor information, business registration information, resident registration number, rent and management fees.
2. Recruitment review & decision
- General information: Name (Korean/Chinese/English), date of birth, gender, photograph, password, phone number, home address, mobile phone number, email, educational background, military service data (military service status, period of service, military class, rank), language skills, computer skills, licenses, qualifications, family relationships, veterans status, career, social experience, awards, overseas experience and research experience.
- Sensitive information: Disability status and disability classification & level if the individual is disabled.

Article 3. Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

The personal information collected by the Company as set forth in Article 2 will be used for the purposes of marketing and advertising, rental contract and settlement for service provision, announcement of advertising information such as campaigns, surveys, or service statistics of members.

Article 4. Retention and Usage Period of Personal Information

1. Personal information collected from you shall be used only within the scope of the stated purposes, and it will not be used beyond the scope or provided to any third party without your prior consent.
2. Exceptions are made in the following cases:
1) when prior consent has been obtained from you in advance;
2) when the shipping company is notified of the minimum user information (name, address, phone number) required for delivery;
3) when the personal information is provided in a form that cannot identify a specific individual and is necessary for statistical analysis, academic research, or market research;
4) when it is determined, based on sufficient and reasonable grounds, that the personal information should be disclosed in order to take legal actions for material or moral damage incurred by any third party under the provisions of the Terms of Service; or
5) when the disclosure is when required by applicable laws, government policies and government orders.

Article 5. Right to Refuse & Disadvantages Due to Refusal

1. You are entitled to refuse to give consent to the collection and use of personal information. The Company provides procedures for you to select “Accept” or “Not Accept” to indicate whether you consent and agree to the Terms of Service and collects the information only on the condition that you select “Accept.”
2. However, in the event you refuse to give consent, this withholding of consent will restrict your ability to sign a lease contract, and therefore you will not be able to receive all services, such as notifications provided by the Company.

Article 6. Destruction of Personal Information

In principle, the Company destroys the information immediately after achieving the purposes of collection and use of personal information as follows:
1) Disposal procedure: The information offered by you when the lease contract has been entered into will be stored on a secure database server according to reasonable grounds (retention and usage period), and then destroyed after the designated period or upon your request.
2) When the information is destroyed
- Reservation inquiries & customer complaints will be stored only during the retention period (3 or 5 years) and then destroyed.
- Information collected for temporary events such as a campaign or survey will be destroyed when such events end.
3) Disposal method: Personal information printed on paper (including written contracts) will be stored for a period stipulated by applicable laws and then destroyed by either shredding or burning. Personal information stored in electronic files will be permanently deleted in a manner that ensures the information cannot be restored.

Article 7. Entrustment of Personal Information

The Company entrusts part of its works and provides personal information to limited third parties for convenient and better services as follows, and also stipulates the matters necessary for the entrusted parties to ensure safe and secured protection of personal information.

Article 8. Rights, Obligations, and Exercises of Data Subjects and Their Legal Representatives

You can inquire or modify your registered personal information at any time and request cancellation of membership.

1. You should select “Change Contract Information” for inquiries or modification of personal information, and “Terminate Contract” to cancel subscription (withdraw consent). The sales team will verify your identity and accept the request. Alternatively, you can make a request to the Chief Privacy Officer in writing, by phone or e-mail, and we will promptly take action as requested.
2. If you request a correction of errors in personal information, the personal information will not be used or provided until the errors are corrected. If incorrect personal information has already been provided to any third party, we will promptly notify the third party of the correction such that it will be reflected in the party’s records.
3. The Company handles the personal information that has been canceled or removed at your request in accordance with the “Retention and Usage Period of Personal Information Collected by the Company” which prohibits access or use of the information for any other purpose.

Article 9. Installation, Operation, and Refusal of Automatic Information Collectors

The Company operates “cookies” that store and find your information from time to time. A cookie is a very small text file sent to your browser by the server used to operate the websites of the Dongsung Group and the Dongdaemun Shopping Complex. This file is stored on your computer’s hard disk. The Company uses cookies as follows.

1. Purpose
Cookies are used for analyzing users’ access frequency/visit time, identifying and tracking users’ interests, obtaining data on participation in various campaigns and the number of visits, and providing targeted marketing/personalized services. You can choose whether or not to install cookies. In other others, you may set preferences in your web browser to allow or block all cookies or check each time cookies are saved.

Article 10. Actions Taken to Protect Personal Information

The Company makes every effort to securely manage the personal information collected and to prevent the personal information from being lost, stolen, leaked, tampered or damaged, as follows.

Article 11. Complaint Handling

If you believe that the Company has failed to comply with this Privacy Policy, please contact the Chief Privacy Officer or Personal Information Manager. We will review your complaint immediately and, if needed, try to take actions as soon as possible.

Article 13. Obligation to Notify Prior to Amendment

1. The Company enables customers to easily access the Privacy Policy by posting the policy on the first page of our website.
2. Customers will be notified of any addition, deletion, alteration and/or modification in this Privacy Policy due to changes in applicable laws and regulations or security technologies via the website’s bulletin board at least 7 days prior to the scheduled amendment.
3. This Privacy Policy is effective from December 2, 2019.
